All taht Rita does is to work and be beside her husband.She can not enjoy life fully.She needs to experience some things.Rita's progress does not come easy.One of the main obstacles taht Rita has to face comes from her husband.I think he has very traditional ideas about the social role of a good woman.What I can perceive is that he feels he is slowly losing control over Rita.But what he doesn't know is that she feels inferior among regular students.
Maybe when we were children and we started school we begun seeing things in a different way and our parents could perceived it. And we discovered others realities, it makes us face to different dilemmas.Our parents felt that our world was like a little bubble but then it has been expanding and sometimes it causes fears.

Why does Rita need something her husband doesn't need to enjoy her life fully, Marucha? I do see your point that "he's losing control over her", and can anticipate conflict too... but isn't she, at the same time, risking "losing control over" him? 8-O!!!
Education opens new doors to us all, and helps us see the world through different glasses... You say this may stir fears, not only in the learners but also in those around them. Any idea of why? And should school do something about it?
